Lead Overhead Door Technicians are primarily responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various types of overhead doors and openers.

These installations are carried out in diverse settings:

  • Car dealerships
  • Commercial, industrial, agricultural and new constructions buildings
  • Residential dwellings and sheds
  • Boathouses, and any other locations featuring overhead doors.

The types of doors handled may include sectional, rolling steel, rolling steel fire doors, speed doors, counter shutters, and both commercial and residential home doors. Additionally, expertise may extend to the installation of dock levelers, truck locks, and gate operators. 

The role of a Garage Door Technician encompasses a wide range of applications, making you essential in providing reliable and efficient door solutions across various settings. Never the same day, the same site, or the same customer!

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Starting date: As soon as possible
  • Job status: Full-time, Permanent
  • Location: Orillia, Ontario
  • Vehicle: Company vehicle provided
  • Salary: $27.00 - $35.00 per hour based on experience

Car-Wal Garage Door Technician Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage service vehicle inventory to ensure adequate stock levels for efficient, professional overhead door installations and repairs.
  • Responsible for reporting maintenance requirements of the company vehicle.
  • Implement measures to maintain the company vehicle in optimal condition and ensure its professional appearance.
  • Operate hand tools efficiently and safely required for the installation, diagnostics, and repair of commercial garage doors and operators.
  • Install dock seals and bumpers.
  • Proficiently wind commercial-size torsion springs.
  • Read blueprints and schematics and follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
  • Utilize provided tablets for work reporting and photo uploads. Training will be provided.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of mechanical concepts and possess problem-solving skills.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including communicating with customers, demonstrating door and operator operations, addressing customer inquiries
  • Must have the ability to work well with others.
  • Work autonomously and efficiently to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Must have the ability to work through onsite issues in a calm, timely and professional manner.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, regulations, and safety requirements on job sites and company property.
  • Be open to additional training, such as "Working at Heights" and "Aerial Lift" certification, if required for safe job performance (costs covered by the company if employment is more than one year. Otherwise, a repayment plan would be discussed for employment less than one year).
  • Be receptive to any other duties assigned by the manager that align with the job's scope and requirements.
  • The role involves working at heights, frequent lifting, bending and standing, and exposure to varying weather conditions.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid G driver’s license
  • Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy objects (50+ lbs).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
