We had recently arranged to have an old remote controlled garage door system removed by your firm and replaced with a new Chamberlain system.

Your service representative (Nick) arrived as scheduled - completed the work required - instructed us on the new system and left after cleaning up the area where he worked in our garage. It was such a welcome to have a service representative like Nick that we had to write and let you know our feelings.

In most cases we have encountered, in Strathroy, the service provider either doesn't return phone calls or promises to do the required work but then never shows up or shows up days or weeks later and leaves a mess in the area he works.

So once again we thank you for the fine service Nick provided. We certainly will not hesitate to use your services again nor recommend you to our friends.

Greatly disappointed in follow up customer service

A representative attended our home, he was… Read more We contacted Door Design after our home had water come into the garage during a rain storm. This resulted in the garage door opener failing to open or shut. A representative attended our home, he was polite and courteous I did not see him connect any instrumentation to the unit to make a diagnosis. It appears that the representative based his diagnosis on hearing ten "clicking" sounds and observing the light bulb flashing ten times from the opener, I was advised in essence this was the opener doing a self diagnosis. With this he deduced that the logic board had been damaged and we required a new one, the cost of a new logic board and labour would be around $200-$250. He provided us with an alternative which was to consider getting a new unit for an additional $100- $150.00 instead of getting just the Logic Board as it would have a warranty. I advised that we would think about it. We paid for his home visit and as a result of his diagnosis opted to order a login board directly from the manufacturer instead of buying a whole new unit or having anyone come in to do the labour. After I received the new Logic Board, I installed it according to the instruction but the garage door still did not work. I decided to call the manufacturer in Arizona, the representative on the phone was very helpful and patient, he guided me through the trouble shooting process and we both discovered that the logic board was not the issue, it turned out to be the sensors located near the bottom of the garage door. I still don't know why the representative that came to my home could do what rep on the phone did, anyway I contacted Door Design to request a refund based on their incorrect diagnosis of my problem and the needles ordering of the new logic board. I was advised by the manager that she would bring my complaint up with the owner, Gord and that they would call me back the upcoming Thursday. As it turns out I had to call them back the following Monday because no one called me. When I spoke with the employee, Susan she advised me that I was out of luck despite the incorrect diagnosis, I was told that they had to use their gas to get to my residence and a refund of the home assessment would be out of the question. I understand that the company did have to use their resources to attend my home but I believe that they have a responsibility as the "authorized" professionals to get the diagnosis right. Can you imagine if I had ordered a whole new unit as was the suggested to me! I never would have realized that all I need was two fairly inexpensive sensors and would have wasted over $350.00 needlessly. I believe a refund for the home evaluation/assessment in this situation is warranted and I am disappointed that Door Design would not honour their proclaimed reputation of "honesty and integrity".

There was an error in the manufacture of the door. It was caught by installers and corrected as soon as part was delivered. Otherwise all ratings would have been excellent.

Not only was the door professionally installed, our technical swept and cleaned the garage on finishing the job way beyond the call of what was required. There was a real sense of commitment to quality that was very refreshing and would lead me to recommend these guys to anyone.
